The happiest race on earth! The last half-marathon I did was in June of 2005. I'm not too crazy about half-marathons because usually at the finish line I'm properly warmed up to run a race. No, I'm not kidding...
I heard that there were more than 15,000 runners this year and the event was sold out. There were 10,849 total finishers (4,442 males and 6,407 females).
15 minutes before the start and the crowd is pumped up. The weather was really nice with a high of 81 Fahrenheit. Another runner told me that the year before it was really warm at the start and then got pretty hot during the day.
Sure have to have the infamous self-shot of my face LMAO... I yet have to really wake up even though a look at my screaming neon-yellow t-shirt should really shut every eyes wide open.
And off we are with fire-shows on top of the staring sign.
Hey, that's so cool. Minni and Mickey in workout clothes!
Running through Al's Toy Barn with pink ears...
Woody's horse Bullseye and Jessie are up early making this run fun.
While I am usually concerned about encountering bears within the trails I run this one was rather fun to see.
Running inside California Adventure.
Two tinkerbell's and one Peter Pan! What a lucky guy LMAO. I secretly hope that later on tinkerbell will fly by and sprinkling us with fairy dust.
Looks like a party to me!
The beauty and two beasts! Only one of the beasts has a pretty t-shirt though, hehe.
The Honda Center, Southern California's premier sports and entertainment venue, just before mile 9.
Down Santa Ana trail for a quarter of a mile, where I really appreciated the absence of any pavement. While I don't really mind running on pavement I prefer trails due their softer ground.
It was awesome running underneath the Angel Stadium sign. It features a 230-foot high letter "A" - complete with halo - that serves as the main scoreboard's support.
Running by the Angel stadium main entrance. This stadium was openend in 1966 and has a capacity of 45,050 seats.
Crossing the 10 mile sign. Notice the bare-food runner on the right side? Pretty cool stuff.
Running on Disney Way towards mile 12.
The last mile is ran inside California Adventure where many characters, like Monster Inc, came out to cheer us on. What an experience only Disney can give!
Posing with Mr. Incredible was totally wicked!!!
Jack-Jack Parr playing with the Omnidroid 8000, a robot which is designed to be intelligent and learn from its mistakes. Much like me working at Disney :)
Ratatouille anybody? The word ratatouille comes from Occitan "ratatolha". It is also used in French ("touiller," also means to toss food). Ratatouille originated in the area around present day Occitan Provença (French: Provence) & Niça (French: Nice).
What a finish line! Honestly, this is my 3rd half-marathon and my slowest one too finishing in 2:21:42. There is so much to see and to experience that I didn't care much about the time but rather fully enjoy this race. It truly is the happiest race on earth.
I finished my race and so much more to come. After me another 6,791 runners went on crossing the finish line with the last runner crossing in 3 hours 51 minutes and 53 seconds.
