Oh 50 mile aid station, where are you???

While I was shuffling those technical uphill trails some other runners were flying down! It's just amazing how fast some of those guys and gals can go! This is Michael Selby from Sacramento.

Those trails are often used by dirt bikes. However, today I only saw this guy flying by me.

I'm about 30 minutes before the 50 mile aid station where Troy is already on his way back. His daughter will pace him after mile 64.

Finally I made it to the far end of this race. 50 miles down and I arrived there 12 hours and 30 minutes into the run. Despite the crazy winds those volunteers were super cheerful and a HUGE THANK YOU to all of them. Now I have to turn around and only run the way back I came from :)

Going back the course the sun starts to go down and the temperatures got colder. The winds were still extreme and the race director actually canceled the 100K due this winds because it got too dangerous for the aid station volunteers.

Fast forward to Saturday morning 8:30 AM. The sun has been out for a hour or so and I'm on mile 91. This is the last major uphill for another couple of mile and then it's basically all downhill for the remaining 8 miles. Yes, this race is actually 101 miles long.

While taking a break the 50K runners ran by. Suddenly Lora Lee walks to us and we were chatting for a bit.

Laura was running the 50K race in a fast 6:39!! She also did an awesome job crewing me at my Lake Tahoe Double Dare 144 miler in September 2011.

And my favorite drink of this race was ... (drum roll please) ... pineapple juice! I drank 6 cans and that stuff was good!

Finally I made it to the finish line. I pretty much walked the remaining 20 miles because my right ankle was acting up and I wanted to be careful. The next day I would run the OC marathon.

Oh yeah! 100 miler number 10 is in the bag! Three more 100 miler scheduled for this year for a total of 5!

Linda you're a wonderful person and a great crew! I always perform better on races with you there because I hurry up to see you on the aid stations. I love you very much and thank you for everything you've done for me.

Steve finished in an incredible 24 hours. And look at this picture. I look like falling over and he's like "pfft that was easy!".

Tiffany did great. She prepared for this race and she owned it all the way. Congrats!

This is the best part: taking off your shoes after running for 100 miles.

Once back at home the healing session starts. Linda took care of the one blister I had.

I also iced my feet to reduce the swelling which was really, really painful but fully necessary because in only 8 hours I would be standing at the starting line of the OC marathon.

Fast forward again to Sunday morning 5:55 AM. We just parked our car and walking to the starting line. I will run the full marathon as a legacy and my superstar wife will run her 9th (!!!) half marathon.

At the starting line we meet Lisa Stotelmyre. She picked up our bib's at the OC marathon expo since I was running during all the expo time. THANK YOU LISA!!

I cannot believe that they didn't reserve my rightful place on the front LOL!

And here we are at mile 1. I feel pretty good considering I just finished a 100 mile race less than 18 hours ago.

Hmm... I think I ran for too long because I am starting to see things I should not see... or wait, perhaps the GU packed in her backpack is real???

So now what's up with this guy. He's running the full marathon while bouncing two balls along the way. He's actually going for a world record. I see him again at mile 23 and guess what? He's still doing it!

Mile 8 baby! Linda will finish her half marathon in 3 hours 8 minutes breaking her PR by almost 30 minutes! Girl, you rock!

During the marathon I had my 100 mile solo bib pinned to my back. I hope that was enough of an excuse for my slow running at that marathon LOL At mile 24 I ran past a few kids, who were running the race too, and one of them shouted: "Hey you're wearing the wrong bib!" LMAO

Hmmm... accident waiting to happen? Or, where are the parents?

Getting close to 14 miles. At that point I run with Jessica Montoya aka bunny. It's amazing how much attention she gets with those bunny ears :)

Along the way we meet up with Yolanda Holder, aka "Walking Diva", which is the world record holder for completing most marathons in a single year. Last year she completed 106 marathons.

I was so happy being able to run with Jessica. She definitely distracted me from counting the inches to the finish line.

It was great seeing Steve Hernandez at the finish line. This guy is awesome and a great friend. I was pretty happy! A 100 miler and a marathon in the same weekend IS DONE!!
